20/01/13 - Tenacious
Dated: 20/01/2013
Sunday morning day 2 started after breakfast with the usual safety
briefing, evacuation drill and hands aloft.
After lunch we departed Palma Mallorca on route to Sardinia.
Once out at sea it was pretty obvious it was going to be a roller coaster
ride and it was proved right.
For dinner we had huge pieces of roast chicken which saw us through our last
dog watch which turned out to be a very pleasant two hours with fine fresh
weather and after dark there were plenty of stars to look at with no light
pollution to distract from their display in the night sky.
Instead of going to our bunks at the end of the watch we changed course
which meant lots of rope pulling so sails could be set to point us in the
right direction but were able to knock off at about 21.00 hrs a bit tired
and achy
This morning started with an early breakfast and we came on watch at 08.00
hrs to a fine morning as the sea was settling down the ride was alot
smoother, then after a short shower the sun came out to much relief as none
of want to go home as white as we came out.
The power steering has failed so we have started manual steering. Turning
the wheel has become a lot harder so we will have muscles on our arm like
Popeye hope the cook has some spinach on board
Ian V is now complaining it's too hot there is no pleasing some people
