20/09/11 - Tenacious

Dated: 20/09/2011

Monday saw us with a lot less rough seas - much to every one's delight. We knew that soon after breakfast we would be docked alongside in Jersey. After the ship was shipshape, and Happy Hour most of the crew headed ashore.
Lamplighters was a good haunt for a pint of bitter and lunch. This pub was the only building in Jersey to continue to show the Union Jack throughout the occupation.
The maritime museum has an architect's model of the Tenacious. The people of Jersey gave the money for the masts and yards.
Those that did not venture ashore in the evening had a feast of fish and chips. Almost all the rest of the crew found the Steak House.
There was a merry sing song on deck before a quiet night.
On Tuesday, after hoisting one of our wheelchair users aloft , and some assisted climbs up the mast (our 91 year old said he got a little puffed near the top!) we set off under full sail.
