A lovely sunny morning heading along Southern Algarve and Spain. A whale was spotted by some crew members as we enjoyed the sunshine and warmth with a fairly calm sea. Rowan the bosun climbed to the pinnacle of the forward mast to carry out maintenance work, whilst we watched, spell-bound from below.
"Happy Hour" was carried out. This does not involve gin and tonics, the only tonic being whether one’s cleaning job involved the Heads or deck scrubbing! The end result was a spotless ship with every voyage crew member feeling proud of their domestic achievements.
The afternoon brought a Fire and Evacuation drill involving all permanent crew and voyage crew. Getting the wheelchair bound crew from below deck to the main deck using a pulley system was an interesting operation as everyone rapidly donned life jackets and Watch Leaders took a roll call of their teams.
After another thrilling and exhausting day we are all looking forward to a 24 hour overnight mooring in Gibraltar, arriving at lunchtime tomorrow.
Final comment – the food is fantastic!
