21/04/2011 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 21/04/2011

Here we are again, alongside in sunny Southampton, after our lovely, relaxing drift around the Isle Of Wight!

No one is complaining at the lack of wind, as the weather is so gorgeous that we have thoroughly enjoyed the voyage – plenty of fun, a lot of learning and the chance to meet so many lovely people who want to come again.

We sailed onto anchor yesterday afternoon, and had a tremendous evening with the wonderful engineers potion, containing atleast 4 of our 5 a day fruit portions – steeped in alcohol. This was accompanied by a delectable feast of jerk chicken, savoury rice, a selection of imaginative salads and scrummy spiced strudel with cream!

Steve G, Ken and Dave did a great job slaving over the hot coals and providing music as well.

Cookie Ali looked very smart, as did the lovely Kim, her assistant…. They have worked tirelessly as usual, and have fed us so well. The BMs Claire, Keith and Kirsten got things ship shape again with their usual gusto…and now face a long drive to Glasgow.. such stamina !

A fair few voyage crew are staying on, and are helping to unload the mountain of fresh stores that is so essential for each voyage, it is then counted and stored in the freshly scrubbed vegetable locker .

Elsewhere we are getting ahead for tomorrow, and the last Happy Hour has made a lot of headway – thank you everyone for such a productive hour. It goes a long way towards being clean and tidy for greeting tomorrows crew .

So, let’s hope for another lovely voyage tomorrow and if this weather is enticing you to set sail… give the voyage department a bell, as there are a few places still free on some voyages along the coastline.

Have a Happy Easter everyone, I have a few fluffy chicks up my sleeve for Sunday…. And catch up with our news after the long weekend, when we will be at Poole Quay.
