21/12/11 - Lord Nelson

We have covered 68 miles since 2am this morning,all under sail despite earlier fears of a wind drop. In fact it has been a steady sail with very little rock 'n rolling (except it seems when one is pouring coffee!) The weather was a warm 19c at 1pm with broken cloud and some sunshine. No whales to report today, but a very large tanker, Miss Marina, steaming to Gibraltar for orders, requested that we keep a steady course and speed to accommodate their movements. The Officer aboard seemed a little non-plussed when advised that, as a large sailing vessel we could not promise this as we are at the mercy of the elements! However he obligingly altered his course in order to keep clear of us for which we were most appreciative. Stevie & Alan, Aft Stbd.
