Back to the ship update blog

22/01/13 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 22/01/2013

Yesterday evening we were continuing on our long held course of 110 towards Cape town. The wind is northerly but of no great strength so sails were handed in the evening after supper.

Yesterday we started a game of murder involving both permanent and voyage crews. So far the survival rate of the permanent crew is poorer than that of the voyage crew.

The cribbage tournament continues with games mostly being played in the bar in the evening. This afternoon a talk about ships logs was given together with a demonstration of the old way of doing it with knotted string etc. Unfortunately the reel did not run smoothly so the demonstration failed. We will try again to morrow.

A cry of "albatross" has just gone up. There are about 6/7 settled on the water some 500 yards away. We look forward to seeing more later.
