22/06/12 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 22/06/2012

Midsummer's Day threw a real mixture of weather at us as we left St Malo.
After a wet, wet morning watch with very light winds the sun showed briefly, then the weather closed in and a force 9 gale from the South West built up for the rest of the afternoon. Good for sailing, though, and it got us to our anchorage off St Peter Port in Guernsey by early evening. After supper the World Cup match took precedence over John's quiz, so a quiet evening for most.
Today dawned bright, with a force 5-6 S/W wind to take us north between Herm and Sark and through the Alderney Race at over 12 knots. Our afternoon watch was enlivened by having Alex in a wheelchair as our watchleader, while those who were unemployed made DJs and bling masks for this evening's Black Tie Dinner Dance... but more of that anon!
A/S watch: Alex, Sam, Penny, Gareth, Dave and Bob
