Back to the ship update blog

22/09/11 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 23/09/2011

The ship is gleaming, and awaiting the voyage crew for LN792 to join this afternoon.
As we have had a week alongside, the hull has also been smartened up and lots of rigging jobs attended to. Below decks a small army of electricians and carpenters have been scurrying through the spaces that contain the wiring etc that keep us going.

Last night we welcomed the JST Lifetime members aboard, for canapés and wine. It was a dry evening and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The local volunteers showed people around and several were reminded of the fun that they had shared on previous occasions, and went away with a new brochure to think of booking for some winter sun in the Canaries.

This morning is bright, and the forecast is favourable for some sun over this next weekend. We have had our voyage meeting, and have briefed the four Watch Leaders, who joined the ship last night. We are all ready and looking forward to getting away tomorrow morning, after the essential safety talks and Hand aloft this afternoon. The new crew then have the evening to get to know each other, the permanent crew and the ship.

We will let you know where we get to.
