22/09/2012 - Tenacious

Dated: 22/09/2012

With the sun shining on St Malo, the team had an exciting day planned. It was rather a slow start for some crew members who had been visiting the sights of St Malo the night before. The morning soon picked up pace and with breakfast over, the crew prepared for some assisted ascents. First Nigel whose wheelchair rose to new heights as he was hoisted up to the first platform on the fore mast. He enjoyed not only the incredible views over St Malo but also a well-deserved round of applause on his arrival on deck. Albert celebrated his 88th birthday in style by climbing to higher levels and confidently reaching the button on the top of the main mast. His birthday and candles awaited him on deck, after a chorus of "Happy Birthday to you" it was shared by all at Smoko! Yummy! Michela,Anne,David and a speedy Mark also made new heights with successful ascents. It was noted that the on looking crew were slightly distracted by the arrival of a French Naval Minesweeper who moored in behind our ship. After lunch four members of their crew enjoyed a tour of Tenacious, they were clearly very impressed by our Galley and lower mess area. We understood why when the invitation was returned and twelve of our crew members, had a very informative tour of the Minesweeper, including seeing their tiny kitchen and even smaller mess area! With our last night in St Malo the rain is upon us. Maybe the weather is on the turn? Departure direction Weymouth early tomorrow morning.
