Hola from La Palma, my favourite Canary island, as it is so green and the mountains are breathtaking. … as those that have gone on the day tour with Conny, our agent here, will be discovering.
The ship is eerily quiet , apart from the click of the tumble dryer and the squeal of the fender next to my ear !
Those not on the trip have gone shopping, to the beach or just mooching around. The Irish girls are doing Leadership at sea and have been aloft , given a tricky task by Lesley the Bosun , so I will ask them to tell you about that.
After leaving Las Palmas on Tuesday, I was pushed to find anyone to update our blog , as the decks emptied a bit while people searched for their sea-legs !
Happily, after an early night for most , they found them… luckily …. And yesterday got fully into ship routine.
Brasses are gleaming , decks scrubbed , sails hauled and ropes coiled …. And then there was the shopping ! A good number of men went for pink polo shirts , having seen how nice the girl guides look in them , no doubt … so for tomorrows photo.. we will be mainly wearing pink !
Today the permanent crew have got on with jobs best done aloncside … grey water tanks ( smelly job )… scouring galley buckets… "bombing" u-bends … scrubbing the laundry area and that’s just the domestic side ! On deck , to Mike VBs music , there has been painting and all manner of repairs on going
Time for a sroll to the front with dad and cookie for a coffee…. AND an icecream Jilly !! Jane MP.
