Back to the ship update blog

23/12/11 - Tenacious

Dated: 23/12/2011

Forward port up for early breakfast and on watch from 8am-12:30. A few wind
changes in the night had kept the night watches busy with bracing and
switching of sail arrangements. We have slowly started taking in the last of
the sails as we have nearly reached La Gomera where we plan to drop anchor
and stay the night. Our first happy hour of the voyage today, cleaning upper
and lower decks. Amazing how quickly time flies when your having fun, with
Ronan :)! Lynda was on the helm as we came into anchor and did a wonderful
job. (Even though the Spanish harbour master made us move!) Once the ship
had anchored we were allowed to swim from the ship...Most of the crew
decided to join in, the water temperature is at 21 (and a bit!) and the air
is roughly 27 with a light breeze. Swimming from the ship was an amazing
experience, some people jumped, some where pulled/pushed and others had a
more gingerly approach of going down the ladder, either way swimming in the
sea in December is epic!
After lunch the crew have been allowed shore leave. Doti boats have been
doing shuttle runs from and to the ship, Everyone is to be back onboard by
17:30. For those not leaving the ship, the Foredeck is a beautiful place to
catch some rays!
This has come from Forward port, wishing everyone back home a Merry
Christmas - The Two Sea Monkeys -
