24/05/12 - Lord Nelson
Dated: 25/05/2012
Having watched the sun's beautiful setting over a petrol blue sea last night and having enjoyed a sky scattered by stars, we (Aft Starboard) watched the morning's light approach once more as we passed the watch on at 4am.
'Nellie' rolled her way up the north Cornwall coast and the fog rolled in.
The lack of suitable wind meant that sails could be harbour-stowed which involved an exhilarating trip on the yards for many of the crew, high above a foggy sea. We approached Lundy and anchored and those going ashore headed off in the DOTI boat into the mist in the belief that there was an island out there somewhere. Happily the sun broke through so the joys of Lundy (cliff edges, lighthouses, and of course the pub - deserved after the long climb up to the top of the island - in some cases whilst pulling or pushing Debs in her chair) could be enjoyed in bright sunshine. A real treat for all
- and a great way for Cookie Dave to spend his birthday - Happy Birthday Dave.
