It's Sunday morning, and we are now tied up at our final stop in London. The sun is just coming over the bow and I am just finishing up the 6 to 8AM watch. The sun is shining warm and bright. As much as I am ready to go home, I would also love to stay and sail another week. I've learned quite a bit about sailing, but I have learned more about myself. We all came on board this ship as strangers, and we leave as friends with a special bond. Soon, my tools of the trade (laptop and blackberry) will consume me, but what will be different will be that I'll have this little place within me that will feel the motion of the ship at sea, or a memory of a shared laugh will surface, or one of the photos will renew that peace that has replaced stress. What a gift this trip has been.
