24/11/12 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 25/11/2012

Day 37 24th Nov
Land Ho… at dawn this morning the island was just visible, could this be the long awaited Fernando de Norhona... As the hours ticked by so the volcanic island slowly took shape until we slowed and approached and dropped anchor in a glorious bay. The captain and I then went ashore to complete the immigration formalities, and after filling in 46 immigration forms escorted 3 Federal Police back aboard to complete the passport inspection. Very soon the federal’s had lunched and the voyage crew were freed to go ashore. Shortly after 1230 local time they were leaping into boats, sun cream and goggles in hand and away they went. So we eagerly await the first reports from our adventurers as to what there is to see on this idyllic island of Brazils coast.
Steve Medical Purser.
