It was a peculiar awakening this morning by the cook's assistant; we were all wished Merry Christmas and a 1/3 and have enjoyed a Christmas cake for smoko and we are all looking forward to a roast turkey for dinner. Light easterly winds continue to force us to motor towards the Azores but progress is being made as we are now over half way there. Otherwise business as usual. Varied activities have been prepared by the permanent crew in order to occupy us all - games, quizzes and a potential back gammon competition.
Excitement is still had when we get the occasional inquisitive whale or playful dolphin paying us a visit. Hopefully the wind will turn more southerly soon and we can give the engines a rest. Painting and maintenance on deck continues by the BM's and the ship is getting a headstart on its makeover for the Queen's Jubilee celebrations. The Engineers are soldiering on down below and have got the dishwasher working again!
