25/07/12 - Tenacious

Tuesday 25th July

Up at crack of dawn(ish) after 8-midnight watch. Fantastic calm night with a starry starry night worthy of a poets touch. Put up loads of sails whilst pretending to understand what all the bits of rope were for and trying not to breathe too heavily.

Another amazingly sunny day with light winds only interrupted by an outbreak of head cleaning and brass polishing. "The menial chore the common task should furnish all we ought to ask" as the hymn has it (clearly, the writer never had the problem of whether to use the blue or pink cloth; which was which again?

Heading, albeit slowly, towards the Channel Islands, which are appearing magically out of the haze on the horizon. Doesn't really get much better than this without a lottery win.
