Cast off today in style after the end of the Belfast Maritime festival and the consumption of some questionable kangaroo burgers. A surprising few were sick although many slept off their night watches on the sunny deck.We bring you this blog from the bridge where 8 to 12pm watch is underway.
A most exciting event has just occurred. We have been joined by another…A monkfish no less after an encounter with the local fisherfolk who some mistook for Somalian pirates. At the expense of Bosun Lesleys’ blood pressure, the trawler approached to within meters to offer us the 'handsome’ specimen. The beast was flung and caught by Fred and Mikey. Looks about the size of a small toddler although apparently only its meagre tail can be consumed.
The vessel is now a dot in the distance and all is quietened down but for the faint flutter of Lesleys’ heart escaping through her mouth. Hoping for fine sailing into Dun Laoghaire tomorrow. We bid you good night. Mwah from the Irish Calîns
