27/08/12 - Tenacious

Dated: 28/08/2012

Today is Monday and the fourth day of our trip. Due to the weather and sea conditions yesterday most of us where rather ill, but during the night the waves have reduced and after a great breakfast cooked by Graham and his willing helpers we are all feeling fighting fit. The first watch of the day had the enjoyable job of setting the sails which after a good breakfast was rather difficult. This was only possible due to the help of the rest of the crew. We are making about five knots and hope to reach England in the next

14 hours. One of the days activities included climbing up to the second platform. This was a task only for the brave hearted. The rest of us stayed below on deck and watched. One of the joys of being a member of the crew is taking part in "Happy Hour". This is an hour in which the decks are scrubbed, windows cleaned, vacuum cleaning carried out by DETLEF - one of our wheelchair champions! The rest of the lower deck was cleaned by other trusty workers such as Max, also wheelchair champion, who emptied the waste paper baskets. This afternoon we will have a talk about buoys and knots which should finalise our training and form us into real maritime team. See you tomorrow!
