28/03/2011 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 29/03/2011

After a full English breakfast the Lord Nelson made the intrepid ¼ mile from the over night buoy to the pier in Falmouth.  Captain Neil faultlessly manoeuvring alongside behind the stern of the Polish ship, Frydveyk Chopin, much to the amazement of all concerned.

Now was the moment for the voyage photo and moustache competition to take place.  The full ships compliment grouped together as they made their first steps onto dry land.

The first prize for the best grown moustache was awarded to" Samuel L Jackson", the look alike Cadet Dan, christened by Malc Aft Port crew member" The angel of doom"

Dan had won this award hands down by shaving the hair from the top of his head and sticking it to his upper lift.

The next class (mainly entered by the female members of the crew) was Emily doing a Father Christmas interpretation. But don’t worry Father Christmas is safely in Lapland playing with his toys.

Finally the company was let loose onto the unsuspecting town hunting high and low for Cornish pasties and Rick Stein famous chippy

Falmouth is the third largest natural deep harbour in the world, and its active port is bustling with activity all year round.

Finally the crew all descended on the Chain Locker to test the local beer.Dick and Jack

Eventually caught up having searched high and low in the main street for brandy.

All good things must come to pass as the voyage crew made their way back to the ship to start harbour watches.
