Back to the ship update blog
28/06/12 - Lord Nelson
Dated: 29/06/2012
It's day 4 of maintenance and everyone has been busy;
The engineering department have been venting fuel tanks with a variety of people, including Chiefy Marco (who is currently very happy as Italy are leading Germany 2-0) and our intrepid maintainer Jon, spending lots of time inside of the tanks. There's also lots of other engineering stuff being done by Chips and his trusty team of volunteers but I'm afraid it's all beyond me.
On deck, Jim, the Bosun, has been leading his team in striking the mizzen sail and stay and then sending it up again, there has been much needle gunning of Watertraps by Ian and Jack whilst Vince has been laying cement in the PC heads and the aft pump room. BMs Kirsten and Neil have amongst other things, been preparing and bending on the newly returned from the sail-makers, Main course. Cadet Aled has been mixing paint for everyone and Cadet Aimee has been leading our HSBC volunteers with clearing everything out of and then inventorying the galley and bar stores.
The galley team of Derek, Ray, Jim and Katie have been feeding us hungry workers with the usual quantity and quality of food, whilst Jon, the Mate has been doing lots of paperwork and was even seen in a boiler suit yesterday. I've generally been hiding in the chart room, inflicting paper cuts on myself as I correct the publications and charts.
We're going to have an enormous Happy Hour (Happy half day?) tomorrow, to get the ship ready for our next voyage, which starts on Saturday.
Lesley, the Second Mate.
