28/09/11 - Tenacious
Dated: 03/10/2011
Joined Tenacious in London yesterday - surprisingly barely 24hours ago! We were warmly welcomed and instructed in all sorts of things which we promptly forgot. Strangely enough though, we've had no problems finding the Mess, Bar and continuous tea, coffee and Graham's legendary biscuits.
Having navigating the Thames using engines, owing to calm conditions, we anchored overnight in the Estuary opposite Leigh on Sea (where Sam lived for 10 years, many moons ago!!).It was a beautiful balmy night, and we were treated to a magnificent sunset. Our watch covered 8pm until midnight so managed a wonderful night's sleep feeling very righteous!
We woke to another glorious day and The Full English Breakfast. Great excitement and daring saw most of us up the rigging and out on the lower topsail yard - stunning views and it was mind blowing. Rope handling training was also a challenge that was great fun - I think we'll ache in places we didn't know we had muscles!
We are heading for Dieppe at present, but you never know, plans can change.
The wind is coming up a little; hopefully we will raise the sails very soon.
