Back to the ship update blog

28/11/2010 - Tenacious

Dated: 30/11/2010

I think we are at about 26 deg at the moment, not to rub it in to toooooo many snow lovers in the islands of Britain. Our arrival was greated by many onlookers and to many of us, this was our time to feel like movies stars for just 10 minutes (I know it was the ship, but we can all pretend)!!!! I however, predicted the time of arrival and won the sweepstake, to which I may add I am yet to recieve..note to self: find Ian and collect winings!!!

We have all been given time ashore to explore, shop and find la playa, this time the land sickness has evaded me but over the last few weeks I now understand the old tale of the drunken sailor, how funny, you are walking through a restaurant, a bar, a shop corridor and find yourself reaching for stablisers whether this be chairs, tables, wall fittings or some childs pram (well not quite) just to keep yourself righted. Your muscles have memory and must keep the last days of continued movement on board, hence all the swaying on the not so moveable land, bless, very strange...!!

So, the 2nd leg of the trip has now come to an end, the first leg from Southampton to Lisbon (ish) I have to admit was a baptism of fire, a fresh faced keen young (ish) lady who had never sailed before confronted by 30ft waves and a force 10/11 in the middle of the night, no land to be seen and on watch through the Bay of Biscay, all this, to the calmness of the waters down the west coast of africa, basking in the sun, climbing the masts and the yards, watching the ever playful dolphins and just appreciating natures elements. One thing i saw this trip that I have never before seen, but many a time read, was the green flash as the sun appears over the horizon, refraction of light or something, a sight indeed to be cherished and

savoured ... So Maintenance is here again and all willing bodies are to be

kitted out in boiler suits and issued all sorts of jobs to earn there keep, it seems my job for today is the blog, anything to keep me out of mischief....Ronan has delegated me this task as I am a little poorly bunny and segregated to my bunk for the day, so keeps me feeling needed - a little anyhow..Oh by the way hello to Ronans' Mum x what a lovely lad you have there, such a credit to you x (I'll collect the money off him later) x OK back to serious stuff, all is getting very noisy now, much banging is occuring up on deck and lots of goings on, so am off to seek this hive of activity or maybe put in my earplugs and try and rest.!! All is good from this end, but without it needing to be said, lots of people are very much missed back home. H
