28/12/12 - Lord Nelson

Lord Nelson arrived back in port at Rio on the 27th where after lunch the voyage crew departed. It is very hot and sunny in Rio and it is like working in a sauna.

Today we have had visitors from the government health department in Brazil, a physiotherapist and an Occupational Therapist who are very impressed with the JST and what we do. This afternoon we are being visited by a delegation from the Canadian embassy. Work never stops on 'Nellie’ the mate, Bosun and BM’s are doing some work on the rigging before it gets too hot to work. Bunks are being made ready for the new voyage crew and the galley crew are busy preparing lunch. Water breaks are being taken frequently.

Today we will be saying goodbye to Captain Barbra, First Mate John, Bosun Lesley and Medical Purser Steve. Replacing them are Captain Chris, First Mate Steve, Bosun Jim and myself Tony Medical Purser.
