We woke up at around 7.30 AM ready for breakfast at 8 AM. Hazel our watch leader told us our watch started at 8 30 AM. This involved taking the helm, doing the log and watching for hazards.
The bosun's mates went aloft to unfurl the sails and at 1030 we set sail.
This was an exciting opportunity for all of us to work together and learn how to heave the ropes. There is a very strong wind today and it was difficult to keep your footing, but this made it even more exciting! The ship is travelling at about 6 knots and the sails are blowing. This is a terrific day to be at sea! One of the crew said "I feel like a sheep on a Welsh Mountain side", referring to our angle of heel!!
