31/12/2010 - Tenacious

Dated: 04/01/2011

Overnight anchor in Prince Rupert Bay, Dominica. Then horror of horrors - rain and more rain! In this inclement weather, a harbour stow had to be undertaken in preparation for berthing later in the day. With trepidation we went aloft as the rain got heavier and the wind blew, but once we got going we barely noticed the conditions and all went smoothly, albeit a bit slower than usual. Then off on a busman's holiday- a boat trip! This time up the Indian River, through primeval Mangrove swamps, but no Jonnie Dieppe with his pirates. A taste of rum punch and alternatives were available up river, before the return journey. Some walked to the beach while others continued their river journey into the bay and were dropped off, waiting to see Tenacious move from anchor. Many swims were undertaken, the first in Caribbean waters for some. Eventually Tenacious reached the berth, after the inter island ferry, which had been diverted from Roseau by bad weather moved on from 'our space'. A rush on the showers, glad rags unpacked, clothes swapped and shared, producing unrecognisable voyage crew. Then off to experience a Caribbean New Year's Eve, with a 'Barbie' on the beach.

Forward Port: Bill, Maggie, Mani, Tony, Julian, Steve, Ian, Dave, Wendy
