- PRESS RELEASE - So what really happens on board a real working tall ship? The PSP Southampton Boat Show offers you the chance to find out.
Sailing into Southampton water on Saturday 12th September, Jubilee Sailing Trust’s Tall Ship – Lord Nelson – will be open to the public for tours from Sunday 13th September at 10am.
Lord Nelson was last at the Boat Show in 2006 and proved to be very popular. Next year she’ll be away as part of the Girl Guides Centenary celebrations, so if you want to take a tour this is your chance.
Tours of Lord Nelson offer an excellent opportunity to take a look around and see what life is like on board one of only 2 ships in the world built to be crewed by a mix of disabled and able bodied people.
With adaptations that include a talking compass for visually impaired crew members, wider passageways for wheelchair users and vibrating alarms for people with hearing difficulties Lord Nelson is far from a normal tall ship. She offers people of all abilities and levels of experience the chance to try their hand at something completely different.
If you love the ship so much you think you might want to come aboard as voyage crew or find out a bit more head over to Solent Hall. Here you will find JST’s brand new stand, courtesy of Kay Blewett from Bauernhaus Creative.
Representatives of Jubilee Sailing Trust will be on hand to run through everything you need to know about becoming voyage crew, how you can support the trust and any further information that you might need.
With fantastic destinations such as Monaco, Italy and Greece coming up in Spring 2010 it’s worth finding out about the special prices that JST will be offering to PSP Southampton Boat Show Visitors.
