Dated: 08/09/2010

JST President Jacquetta Cator

                                         - PRESS RELEASE -

The 10th birthday celebrations of the tall ship Tenacious are now under way. A celebratory reception was held on board the ship on Tuesday 31 August, in her home port of Southampton.  This was followed by a day’s sailing in the Solent on Wednesday 1 September with a crew which included television presenter and journalist Peter Snow, a Vice Patron of the JST; the Hon Jacquetta Cator, President of the JST; Tony Castro, designer of Tenacious and many others who helped to build, or fund the building of this beautiful ship. John Davison from the JST’s Southampton branch sang ‘Happy Birthday’ as Tenacious’s birthday cake was cut by Jacquetta Cator and Lindsay Neve, former CEO of the charity, in the Solent sunshine. On Thursday 2 September, Tenacious set sail for Jersey, retracing the route of her maiden voyage and allowing the JST to say thank you to the States of  Jersey which provided a major donation to her build.

The celebrations will continue with a big shore-side party on Saturday 16th April 2011 for many of Tenacious’ ship builders and JST supporters.

In the meantime we are all looking forward to her winter season in the Caribbean, for more information please click here.
