The Jubilee Sailing Trust has teamed up with William Harding’s Charity to offer physically disabled people from Aylesbury town the opportunity to experience the thrill and adventure of Tall Ship sailing for less.
The Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) was set up over thirty years ago in order to enable able bodied and disabled people to sail side by side as equals aboard our two specially designed and built tall ships.
Both ships, Lord Nelson and Tenacious, are magnificent square riggers. The special features aboard each ship include wide decks for wheelchair users, a speaking compass to enable blind people to helm the ship, power assisted hydraulic steering for those with limited strength and much more.
The Trust sails both ships for 46 weeks a year on voyages ranging from a one to thirty days at sea. In the summer, voyages sail to destinations ranging from Scandinavia, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland and the Channel Islands as well as a variety of UK ports. In the winter the ships head for the sun and destinations such as the Canaries the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
William Harding’s Charity is offering to fund physically disabled individuals from Aylesbury Town who would like the opportunity to take part in one of these amazing adventures.
Whilst on board all crew members will play an active role in sailing the ship, taking part in a range of activities including helming, setting sails and cleaning, affectionately referred to as ‘happy hour’. Absolutely no sailing experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a sense of adventure.
To find out more of about this fantastic opportunity, only available to people from Aylesbury town please contact Naomi at the JST on 02380 449108 or email Naomi@jst.org.uk
